Dear Court,
I hope that you have made it to the city! I think you should be there by now...barring no natural disasters, or rather no more natural disasters!! Haha, only you would move into a city the day after a hurricane...well, you or me :) I can't believe that it's finally here, so I wanted to check in and write you a letter of encouragement.
It seems like this time last year you were making your final choices in school and I was trying to help you read admission essays to help you narrow down the field. You made the choice, you got in, you moved in, and now you are ready to go. I have absolutely no doubts that you are going to rock this grad school program! I have always believed that you would change the world and here you are making the first step.
When we were younger, you were always someone that I looked up to. It never changed during middle or high school, certainly not during college, and became even stronger as we've become 'grown ups'. You show strength and grace under fire. I will always think the best of you and have no doubts that I'm not the only one.
When I heard the news that you had gotten into U-Penn, it was kind of bittersweet. I was so happy that you had gotten in, but so sad that you were going to be far away. The thing is, I can't be that selfish because I know you are destined to do great things in your life. You will heal others with medicine and also with your compassionate heart.
So...go get 'em tiger! Go rock Philly! I can't wait to come visit you!!!
From the country and the heart,

City Girl...... still in the country
Dear Coley,
I love the synopsis of our friendship (especially the things you decided to leave out.... thank you. I am sure all the trips to krispy kreme, near death experiences, and closet hiding will come out in due time). It is funny that I, the "City Girl", am currently living with my parents (on a farm) and waking up to the sounds of cows every day (or should I more specifically say, every morning at the ripe time of 6:45am). My big move to the city is still a week away, and even though I am loving the time spent with my family, the cows may just give me the extra kick in the butt I need to head north.
Tomorrow I take one more step closer to city life..... I am officially purchasing..... itty bitty furniture!! If you did not already know, my new apartment in the big city is all of 200 sqft (I am not exaggerating). Yes, evidently moving up in the world, really means moving into a shoebox (little depressing, yet all my budget can afford). I am taking the move as a sign that I need new furniture (the fact that my current furniture is too big to fit in the door may have something to do with the decision) and spending a small fortune on my new digs. In other words, Ikea, here I come! I have stalked this furniture for some time now, so I am super excited. This is what happens when you get old...... you love buying furniture. So with Mom in tow and my Dad's farm truck (yes, dear Lord) we are headed to Charlotte! Remember when Charlotte was the "big city" to us...... in moments like this I wonder, what have I gotten myself into?
Speaking of... what have you gotten yourself into? Spiders? I cannot wait to hear the stories.
Sincerely,
Court
(ha, sorry for the sincerely, I forgot you weren't one of the 17 financial aid/insurance/registrars I have been corresponding with lately)

Country Girl Moves In
Dear Courtney,
I hope you like the design of our blog as I've just created it for us, hehe. I guess we should give everyone an idea of our idea. For anyone who doesn't know, we have been friends for 20 years. Which either makes us really old or really great friends....I'll go with the latter. We met at church and grew up together getting into all sorts of mischief that only being in a youth group will bring. During high school we made an exciting trip to Spain together that pretty much always leaves us laughing when we reminisce about it. After Courtney left me for college, I couldn't stand not being in the same city and followed her to Greensboro! Well, I'm not sure if that was the exact reason, but her being there certainly helped. After college and a couple years at being that dreaded "g" word...grown ups...we decided to move back to Greensboro and live together as roomies and personal therapists. (You have saved me thousands of dollars, Court!) We had an awesome 2 years. Then you decided to up and leave me for a big city! What does that it have that I don't?! Oh yea, a fabulous grad school...eh...it can't make you sugar cookies. Upon the weeks of leaving each other...and crying a lot...Court decided that we should make a blog together about our unique experiences. Court will be the "city girl" living in a big northern city, and I will be the "country girl", hanging out in a small, rural town in NC.
Court, I hope this blog lives up to your expectations. I already have lots of stories to fill you in on. Including a massive spider. Seriously, I think it was paying rent with me. Give hugs to the big city...I'll say hey to the cows...
Hugs,
Coley
